MIS: Mobile Intervention System
In rural areas the availability of basic healthcare is a problem for many Romanians. Since the mobility of many Romanians is low, they also have difficulties in reaching the general practitioner. With people living longer, mobility likewise lessens. General practitioners only rarely elect to open a practice in small communities or in mountain villages. The modern town with many facilities and a large circle of patients is much more attractive to them to work and live in.

For that reason, remote areas are receiving an ever-decreasing range of facilities, which is moreover less modern.
In order to meet this need, a mobile general practitioners’ consultancy has been started in northeast Romania, which regularly visits a number of villages and gives the population an opportunity to consult it. Somepro was involved in this project as a co-partner. This MIS project ran until the end of 2004.
